Dr. Salvatore Tirrito is a Tucson cardiologist who has dedicated his career to promoting healthy lifestyles in the community. He is director of echocardiography and the co-director of vascular ultrasound at Pima Heart Associates in Tucson, Arizona. He specializes in primary and secondary prevention of heart disease, advanced cardiovascular imaging, vascular medicine and endothelial function. Dr. Tirrito is board certified in cardiology, echocardiography, nuclear cardiology and internal medicine. He holds a level III certification in cardiovascular computed tomography.
He graduated from Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia in 1998 and is a Fulbright Scholar. He has spoken at dozens of conferences and his research and work has been published on numerous occasions. He has also contributed to Triathlete Magazine and published a book So you’re fat. Now what?, a guide to losing weight and unlocking athletic potential.
Dr. Tirrito runs a weight management and performance clinic at several locations in Southern Arizona and also has an Adverse Cardiovascular Events Clinic which specializes in Endothelial dysfunction.
Dr. Tirrito’s strongly feels that in order for us to really have a positive impact on our health that we need to take a more integrative approach to medicine and is currently pursuing a fellowship in Dr. Andrew Weil’s integrative medicine program at the University of Arizona.
Dr. Tirrito is passionate about empowering people to break the cycle of chronic disease, disability, over-medication and a generally poor quality of life that most people experience as they get older. He feels through better nutrition and appropriate exercise we can bypass many of these problems and lead the lives we were meant to lead.
